Dr. Schmidt enjoys working with teenagers. She uses a combination of CBT and supportive therapy. CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) and supportive therapy are two common approaches used to help teens navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. CBT focuses on helping teens recognize and change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, teaching practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and even issues like peer pressure or academic struggles. It’s structured and goal-oriented, giving teens tools they can use right away in daily life. Supportive therapy, on the other hand, creates a safe, non-judgmental space where teens can express their feelings, build self-esteem, and feel understood without pressure to "fix" everything immediately. It’s more about emotional validation, encouragement, and fostering resilience. Dr. Schmidt combines elements of both approaches to meet a teen’s individual needs, helping them feel empowered, supported, and better equipped to handle life's ups and downs.
