Hello

Dr. Schmidt has been operating a thriving practice in Marin County for over 25 years.  She is an active member of her community and has been part of several educational and community boards throughout the years. Susan takes great pride in living and working in her community. Susan and her husband have raised 2 sons and a daughter in the Bay Area. You will often find Susan hiking on local trails and enjoying a cup of coffee at her favorite coffee shop.

My Story

Dr. Schmidt earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1996 from the California School of Professional Psychology.  She also earned a credential in School Psychology and School Counseling in 1998.  Dr. Schmidt received her post doctoral training at Stanford Medical Center in the Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Center focusing on substance abuse and adolescent development.  She also completed an internship at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek which focused on children and assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

After her internship she was a staff psychologist for Kaiser at Walnut Creek and Antioch.  In Walnut Creek she continued to work with children and neuropsychological assessment.  While at Kaiser in Antioch she worked in the adult outpatient chemical dependency program.

Dr. Schmidt continued working with children and adolescents as the District Psychologist for the Liberty Union High School District.  She conducted evaluations for identification of learning disabilities.  She also completed testing for annual and triennial Individual Education Plans and 504 Accommodation Plans.  While working as the District Psychologist, she conducted group and individual psychotherapy.  Dr. Schmidt earned her School Psychologist and School Counseling credential while employed as the District Psychologist.

Susan and her family moved to Marin County in 1999 where she opened her private practice.  Dr. Schmidt has provided neuropsychological assessment, parenting classes, individual therapy, family therapy and consultation services in her practice.

Dr. Schmidt has continued to expand her practice to include conducting thorough adult ADHD and autism evaluations, helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral profiles. Dr. Schmidt’s ADHD evaluations assess attention, executive functioning, impulse control, and emotional regulation. Dr. Schmidt's autism assessments focus on social communication, sensory processing, and patterns of behavior. In addition to testing, Dr. Schmidt offers therapy and coaching services specifically designed for adults with ADHD.

Dr. Schmidt has taken extensive continuing education in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder focusing on the diagnosis and presentation in both children and adults.
