ABOUT SUSAN
Dr. Schmidt earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1996 from the California School of Professional Psychology. She also earned a credential in School Psychology and School Counseling in 1998. Dr. Schmidt received her post doctoral training at Stanford Medical Center in the Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Center focusing on substance abuse and adolescent development. She also completed an internship at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek which focused on children and assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
After her internship she was a staff psychologist for Kaiser at Walnut Creek and Antioch. In Walnut Creek she continued to work with children and neuropsychological assessment. While at Kaiser in Antioch she worked in the adult outpatient chemical dependency program.
Dr. Schmidt continued working with children and adolescents as the District Psychologist for the Liberty Union High School District. She conducted evaluations for identification of learning disabilities. She also completed testing for annual and triennial Individual Education Plans and 504 Accommodation Plans.
While working as the District Psychologist, she conducted group and individual psychotherapy.
Dr. Schmidt earned her School Psychologist and School Counseling credential while employed as the District Psychologist. She and her family moved to Marin County in 1999 where she opened her private practice. Dr. Schmidt has provided neuropsychological assessment, parenting classes, individual therapy, family therapy and consultation services in her practice.
